WHAT TO BRING
Please make that sure your child arrives at the school with the following items that will be provided at the registration day or first day of school.
Iqra Bag (or suitable alternative)
Black folder containing Syllabus, Home Work, Handouts
Tajweed Quran \Juz Amma\Noorani Qaida
Please ensure that the bag and books are marked with you child’s name.
DRESS CODE
All students must be appropriately dressed for an Islamic environment i.e. hijab (incorporating the true sense of the meaning for both males and females). Children should not be wearing make-up.
DROP OFF AND COLLECTION PROCEDURE
School starts at 10AM with a 10-minute assembly. Children will then be collected for class at 10:10 where the register will be taken.
School ends at 2PM and parent are requested to come to the admin area to collect their child. Our safeguarding policy prohibits younger children to leave unaccompanied so all children should be dropped off and picked up at the admin desk.
Please ensure prompt collection as we do not have staff available after 2PM and the premises must be vacated.
Unless joining us for salat-ul-Dhuhr prayers during summer times, parents collecting children are asked to remain at reception. The doors will remain shut until salah is over to conform with our safe guarding policy and to maintain segregation for our female muslees who pray at the back of the hall.
ATTENDANCE
All children must arrive by 10:00AM. A register is taken and lateness also recorded. Poor attendance and punctuality has a negative impact on the wider class so parents are asked to commit to ensuring they do not flout this very important point. Please remember attendance and punctuality is a part of a Muslims amanah (a trust); to your child, the school and other students\parents so should not be taken lightly.
Poor attendance and punctuality will result in the Head teacher having a meeting with parents to discuss the problem and those that are not showing appropriate commitment may be dismissed from the school.
Parents are asked to notify the School via the class WhatsApp group at the earliest opportunity, and by 9:00AM in the case of absence due to illness, medical, dental treatment, or lateness.
HOLIDAYS AND ABSENCE
Should it be necessary to apply for leave of absence please speak with one of the Heads. The School discourages the taking of extra holiday leave during term time because of the disruption caused not only to the child's education but the class as a whole. Should a child be absent for more than two weeks, and with no prior consultation with the Head teacher, the child could be dismissed from the school. There will no refund\credits for fees.
Once the pupil returns to school, it is the parent’s responsibility to speak to the relevant subject teacher to understand what is needed to catch-up.
HOMEWORK
ILC will be committed to providing a structured program of homework for its pupils that would allow them to naturally progress within their individual abilities. It is essential that parents support us with this to ensure adequate progress for their child\children.
The homework column in the syllabus (blue folder) must be signed by the parent after the child completes their homework. If a child fails to do the homework the student is expected to do it for the following week. Where a student fails to regularly complete their homework a meeting will be arranged with the parents.
POINTS SYSTEM & AWARDS CEREMONY
To encourage good behavior, homework completion and general classroom participation we operate a points system with regular prizes and a dedicated award at the annual awards.
The annual awards are held at the end of the year after the completion of exams recognising top performers and those with the highest attendance. Recognition means a lot to a child and it is paramount that all parents attend the ceremony.
CLASS RULES
We have a few simple rules which your children will come to learn. These are to encourage them to respect people and property. Please speak with your child prior to them attending about good behavior and the respect for property and staff.
We understand that children are learning and will not always know or achieve acceptable behavior. Although sanctions will be used when behavior is unacceptable this will be imposed according to the age of the child concerned.
Inappropriate behavior has a great impact on learning and on social development hence it is essential to help children to overcome their difficulties whenever possible. Teachers will always praise children for any positive attitude, as well as awarding them points that may go towards prizes and awards.
Suspension leading to expulsion from Iqra learning Centre can occur if the act is severe enough. Bullying, bad language, violence or stealing will not be tolerated.
Personal devices such as smart phones or tablets are not to be used in class unless permission has been granted by the teacher.
ASSESSMENTS
After your child’s initial assessment at the start of their time with us, regular progress assessments are made and an exam held near the end of the year at which point your child’s level is reviewed. Feedback of your child’s performance will be provided at the parent sessions which are also held near the end of the year.
FEES
Fees will be collected on the last day of term for the following term or the first day of the new term. Details of fees can be found in within this pack or the website.
CONTACTS
Communication is key with our parents. You can contact us via the website, email address, facebook (details in the footer) and dedicated WhatsApp Broadcast groups. We will send you regular messages advising you of key events, school reminders and general information about the school. All new parents will be automatically enrolled in to the WhatsApp Broadcast group for the school as well as a group for their child’s class . We also have the Admin desk that you can come and speak to us at any time during the school day.
For any other queries please contact any of the management team.
In the case of an emergency, signing the registration form will give consent to the ILC to provide your child with emergency action such as hospitalization if required and/or emergency treatment, if you cannot be contacted.
In the case of allergy sufferers, parents/careers should be aware that the ILC does not accept liability for any emergency situation arising due to allergic conditions such as allergy to nuts, milk, or insect bites, or any other such allergies. Please note that the ILC does not currently have facilities in place to treat allergic reactions i.e. a EpiPens.
It is your responsibility to inform ILC of any special conditions or allergies that affect your child.
LUNCH BREAK
Please ensure your child is provided with a lunch\snack along with a water bottle for their classes. We do provide freshly made hot lunch which is payable along with the fees before the start of the term and is non-refundable.
We have good facilities at the school and at break time children are permitted to play in the playground and football pitch. Whilst ILC will make every effort to monitor the children outside during break times we cannot be held responsible for any injuries as per any school environment.
SALAH
We feel it is paramount that our school offers a congregational prayer allowing the children to learn and love our second pillar, therefore we hold salat-ul-Dhuhr prayers. During the Winter time (GMT) salat-ul-Dhuhr is offered during the lunch break. In Summer (BST) salat-ul-Dhuhr is offered just before the end of school (see timetables below).
HAMPTON SPORTS AND LEISURE
The centre caters for sports activities and building hire. We request parents to ask their children to not play\touch\use the equipment\toys. Any damage or vandalism to school property will result in the parent concerned being charged. Please also encourage your child to ensure they dispose of litter appropriately.
COMPLAINTS/CONCERNS
Complaints or concerns should be directed to the teacher in the first instance or any of the management team. If you are not entirely satisfied you’re welcome to write a formal letter to the Head Teacher.
